Huns are pretty fine. It get's only lame on Hun war.

Vikings are the lamest imo.

Viks are probably the 'lamest' civ. If you get stuck as Viks on a land map your pretty much screwed, because their bonuses are all either water or infantry based, and it's awfully difficult to raid someone effectively with infantry.
They can get all the way up to arbalest, so you can still go archer based, but with a pretty basic defences, like only getting guard tower and no bombards, you'll probably find some knights cutting down your villagers pretty quick. The Viks do have good pikes etc, but you can't lead raids with them.

The Eco bonus is ok, but it only has an effect really in the feudal age, because once in castle, the bonus isnt going to give an edge over a good boom. And once in the imp, the bonus is really worth a grand total of nothing. If you can't use it in the feudal, with a good flush, it's pretty much wasted.

And finally, if your playing Viks on a water map, you can't get fire ships. For a primarly water based civ, the lack of fire ships pretty much means that a good player could wipe your entire fleet with a few fire ships of his own. And the team bonus of cheaper docks is useful for early game, but really it's going to be nullified by a long game, just like the Eco bonus.

A civ cant be 'boring' that entirely depends on the player
