I know it's easy to criticize, but what's up with all those 3rd/5th/7th place matches? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel the motivation of players is almost 0 in those games. The scheduling effort is clearly less, the special preparation doesn't seem to exist and the playing level drops. Making a 3rd place match for Gold League would be fine, but the way it's done seems to me as a purposeless extent of the tournament.
That said about placement matches, I'd like to praise staff for making the Silver League happen. It's an absolutely amazing idea, an opportunity for teams to take a new challenge and . I'm very excited to follow the finals, China EMA looks to me as an ultra-agressive forwarding engine. They don't let their enemies breath, especially the flanks. Let's remember they scored 2-2 against Finland, one of the teams playing the Grand Final. Czech isn't bad either, they are very experienced in high level scenario. However, I don't think they are as strong as in the last years. Too bad Lojza is active currently. I expect a Gold League level match, good luck to both teams  .

I read that both Czech and Austria told each other: "ya guys get first/third easily" but IMO china EMA is a pretty good team. Of course czech A is a polished team with skull/janik but ema has IamOK and straydog who are really good too. I remember IamOK did decent when he was in CKF and straydog is a pretty good 1v1 player.

Japan A is a good team if they let their strongest player shine which is Choco. Bustos is also good but he played so badly in the semi finals vs China EMA. If Japan A had their old roster with tokiwa, escape and dodonpa they wouldn't be in the silver league.

only sad is, that in final are so stupid maps. I understand, its chinese tournament, but 4x land map + nomad like chinese HM... for me final maps are too boring. But its only my opinion.

And best rules for ara, no mongol and mayan, which made ara really interesting isnt in final... so mongol hun may still again again and again :)))

I'm pretty sure there were no chinese guys involved in making the settings for the silver league since the prize pool came from our community. And only because you dont like the maps Error, that doenst mean they are stupid ^^
<GTL_Chris> for making me play before work and for making slam get up at 6am, you are going to receive absolutely 0 mercy in these games

yeah, but look at map pack. There are so many really interesting maps... and even against you, these maps were more interesting then maps in final. Or maybe if they want see these maps (i dont), so more TR... or its still same.

I do expect more water maps, but i dont like rules limiting civ choices. iwant to see best players playing the optimal civ combination on a map.

China had no influence in the Silver League settings. When preparing the settings we felt that including water maps would give certain teams a too big of an advantage versus opponents. Home map choices are included for teams to exploit weaknesses of their opponents, instead of setting maps that could cause teams to have an almost certain 1-0 deficit. We also tried to mix up the maps and settings as much as possible while still keeping it fair/even with no big advantages and keep the core of AoC for the final games.
