Careful with "coaching" on steam

Postby  edie » Fri Sep 22, 2017 5:53 pm

Hey,

Im not sure it's the best place to send this message, but i still hope it will be seen by people who might be concerned.

I seen a lot of new players on steam, who has no clue about the community / voobly / the experts, and who got coached by noobs(2k+ on steam) who pretended to be experts. A new friend, new to the community got robbed hundreds € getting coach by 1550+ voobly guy pretended to be 2k4+, few month ago. And this week i see french guy took lesson 20 € per hour from a 2100 on steam, thats total scam.

All this to say, care to who you take your lesson, check if what he is pretending to be is true, and the price too, should be arround 5$ to 15$/hours depending to who you take (where ppl live) and thats for expert lesson not 2000 random steam player.

never saw someone offering coaching :D

as a lot of people spectating my games on HD i was wondering if i can coach them. But somehow i found it kinda bad to take money from them when there are possibilites to improve for free with youtube/spec/twitch etc.

Wtf am I doing with my life if I could be charging 20€ / hour to coach super noobs on HD? 111

Seriously tho that's messed up, I know one guy who was offering coaching at about that level but I didn't think he would be low enough to take money for it...

why those noobs even think some coaching will get them higher? just play games, thats how you get skilled.

None ever asked you "how can i improve pls ? can u give me tips" and you answer :" play games, watch experts recs, watch ur own rec, compare, what u do wrong compared to expert learn bo etc etc" but some are abusing and answering " i can coach you" " you will improve fast"

Pretty sure a good coach might help them to improve many times faster. If they are absolutely new to the game and look for guides on internet, they will find things like "make at least 13 vills then focus on the army", "FC under 30 min guide". Not joking, seen both of those. Some good YouTube videos might help them to understand the basics and they can copy some basic BO of it, but when they start playing and losing, they need to understand why they lost, what were the mistakes, how complex game AoC is. And just someone who analyze their games and tell them this stuff could help them a lot I imagine. But I'd say it surely should be at least 2k player and ideally even way higher, because the understanding of the games is so much higher on every skill level.

they did, but imo with coaching you will get some tips for current situations not in general.
