I think most cities (in Europe) have these facebook groups where they offer rooms for rent for exchange students, expats, locals etc...

They have been very helpfull for me.

Dublin is very expensive. What and where are you studying by the way? LUAS (tram) is really handy to get about the city on, but just watch out at night as it's prime pickpocketing territory. I have no advice on staying there unfortunately, but try http://www.rent.ie if you're looking for a room.
