Tower rush in competitive play

Postby  reduced_mana » Tue Jul 22, 2014 3:43 am

Greetings

Are there any high level games where a tower rush led to a victory? I really love alternative strategies but I heard that a trush is not viable from some threads I have read. What are the disadvantages, apart from using villagers which can't work elsewhere? E.g. I compared tower rushes to other games I played and noticed, that towers in Age of Empires 2 don't have that high of an attack strenght. They are like 1 archer.

I tried this strategy on low level and I like that it gives you map dominance, line of sight and a forward base where you can also mine your opponents ressources. Like monks, towers are really annoying which is that extra something.

I would like to hear your opinion!
You can also help me with my grammar, I am stil learning english.

Interesting, I didn't think trushing would work very well. I'll check out some games.

[edit] Oh, 2k on aoe hd not voobly. =[[[

Oh yeah, but from what I remember from the tournament, some of his attempts were not very successful (although I'm not sure how many) as they didn't help him in the long run. Nevertheless, there were some very cool strats from him and you'll love his style of play. Have fun!

if u can force ur enemy off ressources, like wood gold it can be successfull overall.
but ur eco is really crap on early feudal coz u move like 4-6 vills fwd, so ur castle age time is late
some pro player know how to defend a trush very well or counter it, so its also not a great success rate.

yeah yellow did trush in cot tourney so many times. i think game 5 vs Viper, viper tried to trush and failed. trolling ofc, coz he leaded 4-0 at this point.

from my understanding, how well a trush goes depends a lot on the map. for example if your opponent has foward gold then trush is a good option, i remember seeing jordan building a tower near daut's forward gold and winning in a big tournie
