With the first big patch we introduced the first full campaign and we hope that many will follow. As the campaign manager of AoFE I would appreciate if you leave your feedback on the campaign(s) in this topic. It helps us to improve the existing ones and also gives us a better insight of expectations for future campaigns.

The feedback can range from bugs to ideas, feel free to express any thought on them ;). As always we appreciate your input. Below you'll find an overview of the released scenarios and possible known issues:


Alaric, King of the Visigoths

1. September 408 - All roads lead to a besieged city
  • Troops at southern camp convert too late to the player.solved in 1.2
  • Victory was not always triggered. solved in 1.2

2. Legionnaires on the horizon!

3. Early 410 - Emperor of the West
  • Saurus resigns after x amount of time. Hotfixed with 1.2.

4. 24th of August, 410 - The Sack of Rome

Map 2 takes a few seconds to start. I don't know if this is solvable.

Also, there's a faction called "Civillians" [sic] in map 2. This is indicative of a rather common problem in the campaign: frequent spelling errors.

It's a great campaign so far!

In "Early 410 - Emperor of the west" I have an issue.

I beat the first bunch of bandits, got the new units, beat the troops of Saurus on the way to the northern village. Once I arrive there, I get the Condottieres and the ships and after some time the game always says "Victory" because Saurus is defeted. I didn't even get close to Ravenna and I also didn't fight the green troops in the south. I retried a few times, but it always seems to happen...

I just beat the first mission (Sept. 408), and no new ones have unlocked for me.

It's already in the list I compiled (unfold the spoiler). Even more important, I've already tracked the problem and it should be hotfixed soon (since it won't cause OOS). So if you are at scenario 3, be patient ;)

You probably have to 'unlock' the previous scenarios when the update is done. To prevent that you really have to do the whole thing, simply use the "i r winner" cheatcode and skip until you are back at your current progress.

Have you launched the "AoFE - Alaric, King of the Visigoths" campaign (and not the old "Alaric" one)?

"AoFE - Alaric, King of the Visigoths" is the only custom campaign I have.

Anyone else mind just sending me the campaign file? I'm wondering if mine just got corrupted somehow.

Can you check if following folder: Age of Empires II main folder\games\Forgotten Empires\Scenario, contains: 'Legionnaires on the Horizon!' ; 'Early 410 - Emperor of the West'; '24 of August, 410 - The Sack of Rome' (all scx files)?

If not, this means that you don't have the necessary files. This would make me believe you forgot to download the latest installer of our website (updated yesterday), hit install and then update. You can see if you have the wrong installer if you don't have the 1000 pop limit as an option.

Don't have any of those maps cap'n.

Funny though, I definitely got the new installer. Played a silly game of 4v4 Goths DM with 1000 pop cap for shits & giggles earlier, so that much is definitely working.

This problem will be solved with hotfix. We just identified what may have caused this error (fingers crossed) ;)
